Club competitions

Club members compete in one day, knock-out and leagues throughout the season, leading to a finals weekend in September.

2022 Main Club Competitions

How they work

The schedule of matches is posted on the notice boards in the ladies' and in the men's changing rooms.  If your name appears above your opponent on the draw sheet you are the challenger and  you must contact your opponent to arrange your match well BEFORE the play by date. You should also book a rink in the diary on the Green Steward’s desk and if it is a singles match, arrange for a marker (list in the changing rooms). If it is the fixed jack competition you will also need to lay out the rink or find someone who can help you do this.

Once you have finished your match,  please sign the score card and place it in the competitions’ box in either the men's or ladies' changing room.

Rules of play

All club competitions are played in accordance with the standard rules of the sport of bowls.  These are published by World Bowls.  You can see the latest edition of the laws by clicking on the box to the right.  A printed copy of the laws can be found by the steward's desk in the clubhouse.

The Gildredge Bowls Club competition organisational rules can be seen by clicking on the box to the right.  Copies are also on the walls in the ladies and gentlemen's changing rooms in the clubhouse.

Good luck in your matches.
