Delightful Christmas lights twinkled as members arrived on Thursday evening to watch England battle with Wales for a place in the knock-out stage of the World Cup.
Petina, Bob, Gary and Ellen had spent the afternoon decorating the clubhouse whilst Val, Meg and Jane were preparing the catering plans for the Christmas party on December 10th.
The club's new big screen is available for members to watch nationally broadcasted major sports events. We watched the USA game together last week, and a good crowd of members came along to watch the final group stage game on Tuesday evening between Wales and England. Richard and Lydia opened the bar. Jo provided a "Taste of Wales" plate at half time with Cawl, leek pasty, bara brith, Glamorgan cheese scone, and welshcakes. England ran out 3-0 winners on a thoroughly enjoyable evening, watching the big match with bowling friends. The next one is on Sunday 4th December, from 6.30 for a 7.00 kick-off, when England play Senegal for a place in the quarter-finals. Bangers and mash available at half-time!
