Late August saw the women’s and men’s town competitions reach the final stages. Gildredge Park Bowls Club had been well-represented in the competitions with around 25 club bowlers entering singles, pairs, triples and fours – single sex and mixed, open and seniors. Many of our Gildredge bowlers competed in several formats so we were well represented across the board.
Our club was represented in a Super Six finals with 13 different Gildredge bowlers taking part.

The town competitions are open to local clubs who compete in the town leagues…mainly the seven Eastbourne Clubs but also a little further afield for the women’s competitions. Because Eastbourne is a strong bowling town these local competitions are of a high standard and to reach the finals, and even win, is a grand achievement. Thanks to Francois Celada of Francois’s Collectables in South Street who sponsored the competitions (see photos below with Francois).
Gradually the knock-out stages took their toll but Gildredge bowlers got through to the finals in six competitions.
